Skier loses her life after gondola detaches in Switzerland

A 61-year-old lady has died following a ski gondola detaching and falling down a mountain at Engelberg ski resort, Switzerland.

The incident occured at around 11AM local time on Wednesday 18th March.

Local authorities are unaware and investigating into possible causes. One likely cause being “extremely strong winds” reported by local skiers.

Air rescue services, ambulances and police officers were involved in the rescue of the alone woman.
